From discussions in the last class I attended, I heard silverstripe was a good site to use when setting up a website for the first time. In my limited scope of IT I imagined something immediate and quick. Having just battled disappearing passwords, unfinished blogs, and websites that continuously asked for something other than what I had to offer, and fighting the grip of rising panic, I welcomed the idea of an easy way to obtain what I wanted- setting up a website with silverstripe's easy steps. I found myself reading an internet magazine on CEO of silverstripe, Brian Calhoun, I was inspired with his description of the free open source site. He describes using it as a "simple out-of-the-box experience" .I decided to give it a go! So here I am on a Sunday, at work, discovering that the "simple-out-of-the-box experience" requires downloads, connectors, instructions on making widgets- yes widgets, - little functions which you create and add to your website, or donate to silverstripe's library for the community to use. There is more..... I wade further into cybermania and wonder if I am in a matrix !
